From a friend today:

Weren't we on this some time ago?  Or was that the five man infield?

Olney: Teams could utilize a four-man outfield soon
By Bill Baer Apr 12, 2017, 9:42 PM EDT mlb.nbcsports.com

On the heels of the stats revolution that popularized the use of the infield shift, ESPN’s Buster Olney thinks teams could soon utilize a four-man outfield in certain situations...

... the idea of a four-man outfield isn’t new. As Olney notes, then-Rays manager Joe Maddon utilized a four-man outfield against noted sluggers David Ortiz and Jim Thome. It hasn’t been used much since then, however.

_______________

Joe Maddon last managed the Tampa Rays in 2014.

Jim Thome last played in 2012.

What's worse, the lack of imagination or the lack of recognition of the lack of imagination?
